MIGHTY OAKS
In April 2016, Willing Warriors entered into a Strategic Partnership with the Mighty Oaks Warrior Programs, a non-profit organization committed to serving warriors who are struggling with the effects of combat-related trauma. Mighty Oaks provides intensive peer-based programs primarily at Sky Rose Ranch, Paso Robles, CA. Their leadership team has the unique ability to connect with the warriors and their families. All instructors are program alumni and have experienced the effects of combat trauma and the hardships of military service, and can connect to their students on a peer level not found in a typical clinical environment. In an effort to make their services accessible to more warriors, the leaders of Mighty Oaks began a search for an East Coast location and contacted Willing Warriors. We open our Retreat four weeks out of each year to host Mighty Oaks Mentorship programs.
Three to four weeks of the year at the Retreat are dedicated to the Mentorship Program, “No Man Fights Alone.” For many warriors, these one-week programs are some of the most memorable events in their lives as they establish and/or strengthen their relationship with their faith. This time of a new beginning is typically filled with excitement and passion that provides hope for the challenges that still lie ahead. Although the challenges the warriors came with go with them after they leave, they are now armed with a strengthened faith to overcome them.
The other week of the year is dedicated to the “Love Never Gives Up,” Marriage Advance Program. This program is designed for couples to gain a better understanding of the struggles they each face in dealing with military service and combat trauma. Conversations in this program are structured around needs, expectations, goals, and forgiveness to help couples move forward. Once provided with the necessary support to regain a healthy relationship, each couple learns to engage with the recovery process in order to have a successful marriage.
Our scenic and peaceful Retreat is perfectly suited for these life-changing mentorship programs that require quiet time for daily sessions of teaching, camaraderie, reflection, and meditation.
